On a whim, while sitting at a stoplight, I googled “percentage of genetic similarity between humans”. It’s 99.9% (within the same gender, that is, it’s 98.2% between male and female humans). Wow, the implications… Whoever looks the least like me (an aborigine, maybe?) is 99.9% the same as me. Whoever thinks the least like me (terrorists, maybe?) Is 99.9% the same as me. Whoever’s experience has been the least like mine (I shudder to imagine knowing how blessed my life has been) is 99.9% the same as me. What a powerful force fear is, with its ability to weaponize the .1% that separates us. So… Let’s love each other well today. When we withhold love from another human we withhold love from 99.9% of ourselves. ❤️❤️❤️ PS. With chimpanzees it’s 99%. We are more like same-sex chimpanzees then we are like opposite-sex humans.
